Gotham Public Works first formed in 1999 after its two founding members met at a costume contest and discovered how they each felt a unique bond to the characters they portray, and also shared a strong desire to make something more of it.
Since then GPW has become and experienced far more than they dared expect in the early years, with a focus on exceptional character portrayals and ever-improving costumes being at the heart of their success. Now plans and ambitions for their extravagant hobby have grown accordingly as they work to make the most of their potential and to meet the hopes of their fans.
The group's resume includes various TV, film, magazine, and live appearances, as well as serving as models for their characters. They've also received praise from the likes of Mark Hamill, Elijah Wood, Paul Dini, Billy West, Greg Rucka, and many other professionals from TV, film, and comics that the group's members have been honored to meet.
Even more rewarding has been the actively positive reaction from their fellow Batman fans. GPW's commitment to quality has struck a chord with thousands of comic book and cartoon fans all over the world. Fans of Gotham Public Works have shown their appreciation through hundreds of emails, donations, fan art, swarming the group for photos, offers of assistance, and even tattoos of the group's members!
Slowly but surely Gotham Public Works continues to painstakingly take on new endeavors and add new characters to the roster, expanding their own piece of Gotham where they get to become the very incarnations of the characters they love, for themselves and for the countless people who have responded to seeing these characters come to life.
